HEATHER'S FURY (9)

Plea Deal For The Brats

2 Weeks Later

After the plea deals had been approved and settled, things were slowly starting to get back to normal. Heather is still assigned in custody to her Aunt Kate. She's in the living room going over Craig's list on her computer.

Heather

"Well, this is where I left off when Mom was alive...this is too surreal...like this was all a bad dream?"

Aunt Kate

"Well, you did miss almost a whole year of school, didn't make your prom, but considering the trouble you were in, I think everything worked out about as well as expected."

Heather

"I'm feeling pretty positive anyway, so I'm just going to start over where I left off."

Kate

"And where was that?"

Heather

"Looking for work to have money for a prom dress...they only placed us back a year...just look for a job and take it from there...right?"

Kate

"And a felony plea, looking for work might be a little different now!"

Heather

"They don't have to know that do they?

Kate

"Anything that carries a surety bond, like a cashier or having to do with commerce...yea, I would think you should let them know what's going on!"

Heather

"Well, the places I was looking at are all looking for people with experience anyway..."

Kate

"What type of work are you looking for?"

Heather

"Something rewarding...like putting my feet up, ordering people around...I think I could be a great manager!

Kate laughing

"Manager, hell girl...you can barely mange yourself...you like to party...you sort of have that party mentality that looks at life like a daily free for all...may have to rethink your skills there!"

Heather seeing ad

"I'm responsible, wait here's one here...something about being a house manager...watch the house, manage the affairs of the estate...my cup of tea!"

Kate

"Well, who am I to say, if your feeling that confidant, give 'em a call and see what's up!"

Heather typing in e-mail

"Well, we'll see how they like me...I tend to make good first impressions!"

Kate

"Was that a set-up line...your first impressions are based on how quickly you can get people to kiss your butt...not quite the same thing..."

Heather

"Your being mean...why do you do that?"

Kate

"Because I'm trying to get you to see the real you...you know, the world doesn't spin around your finger just because you want it to, not everybody is at your feet?"

Heather

"Not yet anyway, but I'm working on it, all I require is respect, car keys, and a good starting salary..."

Kate

"Don't forget unlimited pizza and a car for your keys to go in?"

Heather

"Still can't believe I'm on all these driving restrictions."

Kate

"Part of the deal with the courts, limited driving for one year without parental approval, or in this case...Guardian approval!"

Heather

"I can be constructive..."

Kate

"And destructive too, look...I'm not trying to be down on you, just be realistic with what your doing here okay?"

Heather

"Okay...Mom...Mama Kate, I still think your being mean."

Kate

"Well, I know, but like most things in life, you must heal...allow yourself to get over things...I know you'll get over this...like the first tome I started carrying a gun around, I was a nervous wreck!"

Heather

"Didn't notice anything, you always seem so calm..."

Kate

"Yea, now...I mean I have a carry and conceal...like a hiding permit, lot of responsibility there!"

Heather

"Well, I have a felony now, so I won't have to be forced to be playing with any guns..."

Kate

"You have the weirdest way of justifying things, you know that...just keep yourself focused on what you need to be doing, not what you'd rather be doing, you get me?"

Int: Marcia's House (Heather's Friend)-5 p.m.

Marcia at her house talking with her Mom.

Marcia

"Mom, how come I'm such a failure...look how I've screwed everything up?"

Marcia's Mom (Penny)

"Well dear, it has a lot to do with the friends you hang around with, give yourself a goal for you to work with, find some new buddies...like starting over with yourself!"

Marcia

"So, just like that...make up some new friends, go hang out on the street corner and stick my head into stranger's cars..."Hey, I'm Marcia...won't you be my neighbor...I have a felony, but if you'll be my buddy...I promise not top harm you...no really...and even if I do...it will look like an accident", it just seems like such a pain in the butt..."

Mom

"What are you harping on...look, it's going to take you a little while to build up your confidence...so just hold your head up and move forward honey, that's really all there is to it!"

Marcia

"Mom...I'm really glad your here, I mean here for me...just wanted you to know how thankful I am!"

Mom

"Well, that's good to know...glad I'm being appreciated here!

Marcia

"You know...I hope Heather does okay...I mean she doesn't have anyone to help her out..."

Mom

"Well, her Aunt can help, but yes...it's going to be a tough road for her either way...you girls just dug some deep holes for yourselves and it's going to take a while to climb your way out!"

Marcia

"Holes suck!"

Mom

"I know dear, girls with shovels...never a good thing..."

(2 weeks later)

After sending in a request for an interview to Ms. Deitz estate up in North Lakeland, for the position of house manager, sending in a rather padded resume listing houses and services she supposedly provided, Ms. Deitz agreed to see her.

Int: Ms. Deitz's Rosewood House-Entrance Parlor- 9 am

Ms. Deitz (continuing)

"So Heather, how much experience do you think you have managing houses all together?"

Heather flipping legs over chair arm.

"Well, 'bout 4, if you consider all my babysitting, walking dogs, feeding the fish, and I also was in charge of the lawn boy...he did the gardens...and just about anything else I wanted him to do..."

Ms. Deitz laughing

"Sounds like he did too, I mean...I'm glad you have the ability to supervise others...you have a lot of that here."

Heather

"Oh, and if he didn't...he wasn't gettin none...know what I mean?"

Ms. Deitz

"Well Heather, I sure appreciate your honesty...I'll tell you what...let me interview this other girl and let me make a decision...I'll contact you by Wednesday, fair enough?"

Heather

"Thank you Ms, Deitz...you sure have a cool house, it's the bomb!"

Ms. Dietz

"The bomb...right my dear...never heard the Rosewood House called the bomb before, but thank you for the wonderful observation...the bomb, oh my dear!"
